What are Dermal Fillers & Facial Sculpting?

Facial sculpting with dermal filler places a selected product at specific tissue depths to support shape, projection or volume. Hyaluronic acid fillers are commonly used, while other materials may be chosen for particular indications. Every product has its own approved uses, expected duration and reversibility.

Results and safety

Results are often visible immediately, although swelling can temporarily change the appearance. The final result is assessed after the area settles. Effects are usually temporary and depend on the product, amount, tissue, injection site and individual metabolism.

Common effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness, redness and temporary unevenness. Less common problems include infection, nodules, delayed inflammation or poor cosmetic outcome. Accidental injection into a blood vessel is rare but can cause tissue loss, stroke or blindness. Sudden severe pain, skin colour change or vision symptoms need emergency assessment.
